Non-Floral Decor For Your DIY Wedding

As you begin planning your wedding, you may begin to realize there are a few things about the process that are more costly than you anticipated. Having a wedding budget and sticking to it can be a challenge, but with a few compromises here and there, you can still have a beautiful, memorable day!

Many of our couples have DIY weddings because, honestly, it is often a more “budget-friendly” option. We want to support you during this process, so we thought a few DIY decor options could spark some inspiration if you’re trying to cut costs here and there.

Also, please know, we aren’t saying to cut our a florist! Often times, your florist will have a variety of affordable, non-floral decor options for rent or purchase. This can shave off a significant amount of money and ensure you aren’t stressed about sourcing your decor!

Be it for budgetary reasons or personal aesthetic taste, not everyone wants or can afford flowers on the wedding day.

Here is a list of decor items that work as great alternatives to florals for centerpieces or accent decor.

Lanterns

There are so many beautiful lantern options these days! The material choices and the shape and size variety is vast! From oblong rattan to gold geometric and everything in between. Lanterns can convey a variety of styles and add so much to a tablescape.

Candles

You can’t go wrong with candles! There are so many colors and shapes, you can really have fun mixing and matching. There are a ton of electric options now too, which we love for safety reasons (plus, not worrying about them blowing out or melting on your linen is wonderful).

Books

A stack of books is a great conversation started. Although vintage options are usually the most popular, we think it would be fun to work with all one color or theme.

Wood textures

Small wood blocks, wood rounds, small stumps and more! A collection of wood textures and tones in a variety of heights and shapes can add a beautiful rustic touch. Add just a sprig of greenery and some candles and you have a stunning centerpiece or aisle entrance.

Bottles

Can’t you just see a gorgeous mix of vintage bottles in a variety of shapes and sizes? Each unique and one of a kind? Jars could be really fun too! Again, mix it up with some candles and a little touch of soft fabric for added dimension and texture.

Food

We’re talking mini cakes or charcuterie boards. Yummy! Your guests need to eat, right? Why not make a centerpiece that is as beautiful as it is tasty. That’s something to chew on!

The UNION of marriage that is rooted in faith is an incredible blessing and we do our best to remind couples of this when they find themselves stressed out during the planning. It’s inevitable to feel some overwhelm during the wedding planning process, but as long as you keep yourself rooted in the meaning and purpose of your marriage, & vows, it’s a lot easier to make decisions based on priorities than desires.
